Changes to TimberTrack Ahead of VIOL3
On May 2, 2025, Biometria will launch VIOL3, which will result in some changes to TimberTrack. To ensure that the workflow functions properly, your organization must have completed all necessary setup with Biometria.
At last year’s user meeting (2024), we discussed the plan for TimberTrack’s transition to VIOL3 and demonstrated some of the changes that will affect the system. Over the past year, we have worked with our users to make the necessary adjustments to TimberTrack to align it with VIOL3. A new version will soon be deployed in Icebound’s production environment. If you manage your own operations, please contact Icebound to schedule an installation.
TimberTrack will be shipped with Biometria’s new default values. These will not be editable. If you wish to supplement the default set, you can do so.
Below is a summary of some of the changes coming to TimberTrack. You will need to assess how these changes will affect your business and make any necessary adjustments.
New Field – Type of Acquisition
- Other organization
- In-house resource
- Private owner
“Origin” is replaced by “Contract Type” in TimberTrack
- Logging Assignments
- Delivery
- Delivery and Root Purchase – Fixed Price
- Delivery-Based Purchases – Price by Product Line
- Root Post
- A Harvest-Sized Mission
For those of you who use the “Business Documentation” add-on, a new report configuration must be performed.
“Harvesting type” is replaced by “harvesting method” in TimberTrack
- Harvesting of Insect-Damaged Stands
- Felling of Shelter Trees
- Harvesting of Windthrow
- First Thinning
For those of you who use required fields, you’ll need to reconfigure the system for the new harvesting methods.
The terms “county,” “municipality,” and “parish” (LKF) will be eliminated.
Replaced by “Region, Province, and District.”
Lumber order numbers are being phased out
Replaced by the subject of the contract.
“Product range” is replaced by “merchandise range” and “product range category.”
All industry-wide product lines and product line categories will be set up and active. Each organization can choose for itself which product lines and product line categories should be active. TimberTrack will not support products in VIOL3.
Each organization must also configure which receiving locations can accept the product lines they have chosen to work with. This is managed through the TimberTrack administration.
Any user configuration of the standard product lines must be reconfigured for the VIOL3 product lines.
New values for landings
The information displayed for landing sites in VIOL3 has changed. It is no longer possible to have preset values for landing sites in TimberTrack.
Each organization that uses TimberTrack decides for itself when to enable the ability to create VIOL3 objects and contacts Icebound to activate the feature. Otherwise, the ability to create VIOL3 objects will be enabled for all organizations on May 2, 2025.
Each organization decides for itself when it should no longer be possible to create VIOL2 objects in TimberTrack and contacts Icebound, which then disables that functionality.
When it is possible to create both VIOL2 and VIOL3 objects, the user can select the VIOL version when creating a tract.
Sincerely, the Icebound Forest team
